What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day
As our 2IC, you’ll be the central figure, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Your key responsibilities will involve:
Farm Oversight: Taking charge of the daily rhythm of the farm, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
Dairy Expertise: Handling all aspects of the milking process with precision and care.
Herd Health: Being the guardian of our cows—monitoring their health, managing feeding, and applying best practices for their comfort and well-being.
Land Management: Wisely managing our pastures through effective grazing rotations and maintenance.
Practical Skills: Getting stuck in with general farm maintenance and ensuring the property is in good shape.
Paperwork: Keeping essential records and admin tasks up-to-date (basic computer familiarity is a plus).
Teamwork: You'll need to be self-driven and reliable, but also skilled at leading and coordinating a small, collaborative farm team.
The Details
Position: Dairy Cattle Farmer / 2IC
Where: Toolamba, VIC 3614, Australia
Pay: A competitive annual salary of $76,515 AUD (which works out to about $36.79 per hour).
Hours: Full-time work, which will include some necessary weekend roster shifts.
Who We Need
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and demonstrate proven commitment to the industry:
Experience is Key: At least 3 years of practical farm work experience, with a solid background in dairy being highly preferred.
Qualifications: A degree in Agriculture or significant, relevant industry experience that proves your knowledge.
Your Know-How: Deep understanding of modern dairy production, pasture management, and exceptional animal husbandry.
Soft Skills: Strong, clear communication; excellent organizational and time-management skills; and the ability to confidently lead a small team.
Communication: Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
